What kind of music does Ensign perform?
Ensign Symphony & Chorus performs both sacred and secular music. There is not one specific style of music that we choose from. We have performed classical pieces by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Vivaldi and many other composers. Other music includes traditional American hymns and folk songs as well as traditional pieces from other nations. We often perform music by Mack Wilberg and other composers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as other contemporary artists. We have also performed many contemporary pieces including music from recent films, and other special arrangements of classical and pop music with our guest artists Jennifer Thomas and David Archuleta. Recently we even performed arrangements with guest artist J.ournal, who combines spoken word poetry with music. Each concert is a beautiful mixture of many styles of music all with the purpose of uplifting and inspiring our audience.
What is Proper Concert Attire?
Formal attire – such as tuxedos and formal gowns – are not common at our concerts. Many concert goers wear business or dressy attire. Jeans, however are not frowned upon, you just might want to dress them up a notch.
What time can I be seated?
The concert hall opens 30 minutes prior to the concert. Guests are encouraged to be seated 15 minutes prior to start times.
Can children attend?
Children regularly attend our concerts. We just ask that they be quickly removed from the hall if they become disruptive. Entry requires a valid ticket for all individuals, including for children who might otherwise not occupy a seat.
Can I take photos or videos?
Photography is permitted during concerts (unless otherwise requested) – please refrain from using flash photography as it is distracting to performers. If you post images on social media please use #seattleensign. Video and Audio recordings in Benaroya Hall or of Ensign Symphony & Chorus are not allowed.
